Trustees approve lower tax rate

by | Aug 27, 2026 | Area news, Latest

Farmersville ISD trustees Monday night unanimously approved a tax rate of $1.2131 per $100 valuation for the 2026-27 fiscal year, slightly lower than last year’s rate of $1.215.

The new rate includes 71.36 cents for maintenance and operations and 49.95 cents for interest and sinking, or debt service.

Although the total rate decreases by 0.19 cents per $100 valuation, the district’s median taxable homestead value also declined, from $165,877 to $153,732. Based on those figures, the estimated FISD tax bill on the median-valued homestead would decrease from $2,015.41 to $1,864.93, a reduction of $150.49, or 7.47%.
