For a moment, it appeared that Farmersville was going to earn a sweep of state-ranked Caddo Mills, ranked No. 5 in last week’s Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 4A state poll. But it ended in heartbreak for the Lady Farmers.

Caddo Mills rallied from a two-sets-to-zero deficit to stun Farmersville by a 21-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-15, 15-12 final on Friday at Farmersville Arena.

Peighton Purser turned in an all-around effort with 19 kills, 17 digs and four service aces. Lillian Couture chipped in 10 kills and two blocks. Breelynn Pollard finished with 37 assists and five aces.

Earlier in the week, Farmersville got off to a strong start at Class 4A’s No. 10 Sunnyvale, but the Lady Raiders defeated the Lady Farmers 26-24, 25-23, 25-17 in a highly entertaining match on Sept. 22.

Pollard dished out 28 assists, Purser had a near double-double with 14 kills and nine digs while Izzy Lopez had 11 digs.
