Three Keys to Victory: Farmersville football versus Rains

by | Aug 27, 2021 | Sports

Farmersville ended its preseason action last Thursday, traveling to Bonham to participate in a football scrimmage.

The Farmers open the season Aug. 27, hosting Rains at Farmers Stadium. A rematch of last year’s season opener, this contest carries a lot of weight, including Farmersville coach Randy Barnes facing the school he led for the last five years.

Here are three keys to a Farmersville victory over the Wildcats:

  1. Slow down their opponents

Last year’s showdown with Rains was a bit of a disaster for Farmersville defensively. Despite a close first quarter, the Farmers were unable to slow down the strong Wildcats offense, giving up 725 yards, including 615 on the ground, en route to a 50-point loss.
