Farmers lose to Ferris

by | Sep 18, 2021 | Latest, Sports

After giving up three fourth-quarter touchdowns, the Farmers (2-2) weren’t able to do enough to win, losing to Ferris (3-1) 49-38.

Key Play of the Game: Ferris picks off Gray in the fourth quarter.

Farmersville trailed 28-17 midway through the third quarter before back-to-back touchdowns of over 60 yards allowed the Farmers to go up by two. After a Ferris touchdown allowed them to have a five-point lead, Farmersville was driving to regain the advantage.

These hopes were dashed, however, when an interception allowed the Yellow Jackets excellent field position. Another Ferris touchdown allowed them to build a 12-point lead they would never relinquish

Thoughts from Coach Randy Barnes

“The three goals that we had to reach to win this football game were no turnovers, no stupid penalties and tackle well,” Barnes said. “That’s not what we ended up doing, so I didn’t do a good enough job preparing the team. I promise you that won’t happen again. We’ve got to reduce the mistakes, and we can beat anybody.

The Farmers return home next week, hosting Van Alstyne Friday, Sept. 24.
