Farmersville High School had its fall sports banquet on Monday, Jan. 24 and announced several award winners.
Some of the top student-athletes in football, volleyball, tennis and cross country were among the award winners announced.
In football, Brajoen Tidwell was named the Fightin’ Farmers Most Valuable Player. As the team’s starting running back, Tidwell finished with 1,250 yards rushing and 19 touchdowns for the season. Overall, the Farmersville football team went 3-7 and won two district games.
The Lady Farmers volleyball team was the most successful fall sports team, finishing 40-3 overall and reaching the third round of the 4A playoffs. With their success, the school decided to split the MVP award between Rylee Ortega and Angie Lee. Ortega was among the area leaders in class 4A with 307 kills and 58 aces and signed to play volleyball at Hardin-Simmons University next season.
Lee led the team with 433 kills and had 112 blocks for the season. The junior middle hitter was ranked third in the area for 4A in kills for the season.
