The Farmersville ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year and Secondary Teacher of the Year were announced at the Farmersville Chamber of Commerce banquet held Saturday, April 23 at Davis and Grey Farms in Celeste.

Four candidates were picked from each campus in March before moving on to the Elementary and Secondary Teacher of the Year final selection process.

Fourth grade writing teacher Karen Lombard, of Farmersville Intermediate School, was named as the Elementary Teacher of the Year for the district.

Physics and AP Calculus teacher Steven Nappo was named the Secondary Teacher of the Year at the banquet.

Additionally, Farmersville ISD announced staff changes for the 2022-23 school year Tuesday, April 26 in a news release.

Farmersville High School Principal Wayne Callaway was named the executive director of human resources and student services.

“Mr. Callaway has proven himself to be a valuable contributor to fostering excellence in our school district,” the district said. “This new role will allow him to use his skills, knowledge, and drive to have a larger impact for all FISD teachers and students.”

Farmersville Junior High Principal David Warren will transition to the high school as the new principal.

“Mr. Warren has been an incredible leader for Farmersville Junior High, and the district leadership team has full faith that he will continue to be a transformative instructional leader at the high school,” the release stated.

Lastly, Farmersville Junior High Assistant Principal Dean Johnson was picked to fill the principal position that will be vacated by Warren. Johnson has served as the Assistant Principal alongside Warren for three years. “It is always a good day when you can promote from within,” Superintendent Micheal French said. “We look forward to the leadership they will provide to our teachers and students in the coming years.”
