Lady Farmers win four-set thriller

by | Aug 23, 2022 | Latest, Sports

It was down to the wire for the No. 2 ranked Farmersville volleyball team, battling at home against No. 9 Aubrey Tuesday night.

Head coach Harold Davis said that “big-time players make big-time plays in big-time moments. With the Lady Farmers behind 14-10 in set two, after dropping the first set, Angie Lee stepped up with the first of many big-time moments from Farmersville athletes. She had two blocks and a kill to help even the score, and Farmersville (20-1) never looked back.

The Lady Farmers ended up winning a 3-1 (17-25, 25-23, 26-24, 25-23). With the final three sets separated by the smallest of margins, coach Davis praised his team’s ability to respond to adversity and overcome any errors throughout the match.

With the score tied late in set three and the score even 1-1, the Lady Farmers capitalized on an Aubrey error and closed out the set with a Bella Holland kill to clinch the set. The team didn’t look back from there, leading the majority of set four.

Farmersville picks up its 20th win of the season, defeating a team in Aubrey that beat them last season. The Lady Farmers head to Edgewood this weekend for their final non-district tournament of the regular season Aug. 25-27.
