Hotel tax, rate approved

Farmersville does not have any hotels or motels doing business within its city limits, but it does have plenty of places that function as locations where people stay “for a day or so,” according to City Manager Ben White.

Therefore, it became important for the city to enact a municipal ordinance that governs those operations, White said.

City council did enact such an ordinance at its Sept. 13 meeting, enabling Farmersville to collect hotel-motel tax revenue from places that offer lodging for visitors to the city.
