Farmersville had an opportunity to knock off district-leading Sunnyvale on their home court but couldn’t make it happen on Tuesday night, Oct. 10.
Trailing the Lady Raiders (27-7, 8-0) by a game in District 14-4A, a win would have evened this year’s series and created a tie for first place.
The Lady Farmers, who were celebrating Senior Night, lost the match 3-0 (23-25, 19-25, 19-25) and have three games remaining in the regular season.
Head Coach Arian May said in spite of the setback the team has been playing well and just needs some minor adjustments.
“Last night was obviously a tough loss for us,” she said. “Though it hurts our chances at a district championship, we have a solid hold on second place and we are going to play one game at a time.”
“We know that we need to finish district strong and carry that into our run in the playoffs. We are playing good volleyball right now and just have some small things we really need to work on.”
The final district standings should have Sunnyvale in first, followed by Farmersville. Caddo, Kaufman and Wills Point are tied for third at 4-4 in district with the top four teams advancing.
Up next for the Lady Farmers (32-4, 7-2) is a trip to Wills Point this Friday the 13th, then road games at Community (10/17) and Kaufman (10/24).
