Merit residents filled the Farmersville City Council chambers on Oct. 21 to voice their opposition to the city’s plan to voluntarily annex 89.2 acres of the Chaparral Trail. Despite their protests, council approved the ordinance in a 5-2 vote.

The discussion centered around concerns from six residents who opposed the annexation, citing the current proposition to incorporate Merit as a city and the possible conflict with trail ownership if the proposition passes.
