As the holiday season approaches, the Farmersville community is gearing up to support its cherished Christmas light tradition with a fundraiser Saturday, Nov. 2.
The event, Bids for Bulbs, aims to raise crucial funds for Farmersville Lights, a month-long light display that brightens up Farmersville Parkway from Dec. 1 through Dec. 31.
The fundraiser will take place at A Market Affair, located at 101B Candy Street in Farmersville. Doors open at noon with a preview and silent auction running until 5 p.m., followed by a live auction starting at 6 p.m. and continuing throughout the evening.
The event is free to attend and all proceeds go directly to funding Farmersville Lights.
Organizers encourage everyone to participate by donating items, bidding, or both, so Farmersville Lights and the festivities can continue as in year’s past.
Silent and live auction items include a wide range of holiday decor and seasonal items, a 10’ x 10’ pop-up tent, handcrafted jewelry and ornaments, gift baskets, baking supplies, toys, FISD gear, wine accessories, multiple bottles of whiskey, an outdoor patio umbrella, a Ninja Ice Cream maker, and various unique items contributed by local businesses and residents.
The Farmersville Lights display is a collaborative effort, installed annually by dedicated volunteers, Farmersville Public Works and a private company.
Funds raised at Bids for Bulbs will help cover some of the expenses that make the festive display possible each year.
“This is an opportunity for everyone in the community to contribute to keeping our town’s holiday spirit alive,” said volunteer Tonya Fox. “Anyone can come out and participate at the level that they feel they can.”
