Trailing by 14 points with 1:49 remaining in Thursday’s District 5-4A Div. II football game, Farmersville was in need of a miracle.

With a second consecutive playoff berth on the line, the Farmers didn’t want to have their fate rest in the hands of other teams. There were scenarios where Farmersville could make the playoffs with a loss. However, that was the least of their worries as Sanger appeared to be in the driver’s seat.

Farmersville proceeded to stun with a 15-point explosion over the game’s final two minutes to earn a playoff-clinching 39-38 win over Sanger from Farmers Stadium.

Senior wide receiver Drake Grimes caught the game-tying, 11-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Levi McAbee as time expired. Christian Aguilar made the ensuing PAT kick to clinch the win for Farmersville.

The Farmers scored less than two minutes prior to bring them to within six points after the ensuing 2-point conversion run by Tristyn Fleuren.
