County population nearing 1.3 million

Two Collin County cities doubled in population over the past five years while the county grew overall by 19.6% from 2020 to 2025, according to the latest figures from the Texas Population Estimates Program.

The program, run by the Texas Demographic Center, estimated the county’s January 2025 population at 1,272,999, with 184,657 new residents in the last five years.

The program found Princeton added 21,586 people from 2020 to 2025, for a 126.8% increase over the five-year period resulting in an estimated total of 38,613 in January of this year. City officials have said the number was at least 41,000.

The January estimate for Farmersville’s population was 4,506 residents, with 894 new residents from 2020-2025 and a 24.8% growth rate.

According to the program, Lowry Crossing gained 491 people since 2020, for a 29.1% growth rate and a total population estimate of 2,181 in January of this year.
