The Farmersville soccer teams reached the halfway point of district play last week.

For the Farmersville boys, the squad has positioned itself well to qualify for the postseason for the second consecutive season. After starting District 11-4A play with back-to-back shutout losses to defending Class 4A state runner-up Gainesville and Frisco Panther Creek, Farmersville has since gone 4-1-1 and entered this week in fourth place.

The latest win for the Farmers (6-7-1 overall, 4-3-1 district) was a 3-1 road victory over Bonham on Wednesday, Feb. 11.

Christian Aguilar scored two goals in the win, Jairo Acosta added one goal and Daniel Mendoza contributed two assists.

As for the Lady Farmers, they entered this week with a 2-5 district record, two games behind fourth-place Panther Creek (4-2-2) for the final playoff spot from District 11-4A. However, Farmersville has won three of its last five matches, including a 5-0 victory over Bonham on Feb. 11.

Senior Natalie Taylor continued her dominant play, scoring all five goals for Farmersville. Overall, Taylor has scored 23 goals through 15 matches.
