Looking for a way to keep the kids entertained this summer while learning something new? The Farmersville Fire Department is inviting families to its first-ever Summer Fun Day on Tuesday, July 14.
The free event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Farmersville Fire Department and is designed to give children a fun, hands-on look at the work firefighters do while promoting fire safety and community engagement.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the department’s fire apparatus, meet local firefighters and enjoy games and snacks throughout the morning.
According to Firefighter/EMT/Inspector and Fire Investigator Penny Phillips, who serves as the department’s Community Outreach and Risk Reduction Specialist, the event was created to strengthen connections between the department and the community while providing local families with an enjoyable summer activity.
“This is the first time we’ve hosted an event like this,” Phillips said. “The purpose is to engage the public and give the kiddos an educational and fun activity to do during the summer.”
Phillips said the department hopes the event becomes the first of many.
“If we have a good turnout, we’ll definitely look into offering more activities like this in the future,” she said.
Families of all ages are welcome to attend.
