Long before Dayne Campbell returned home to Farmersville, he spent more than a decade behind the cameras in Hollywood, where his work brought him into contact with television stars and some of the era’s best-known entertainers.
Of all the celebrities he encountered during a 43-year broadcasting career, one remains at the top of his list: Dolly Parton.
Campbell met Parton two or three times when she appeared on what he remembers as “The Mike Douglas Show.” Although stars were often surrounded by people eager to meet their needs, he said Parton never treated the crew as though they were beneath her.
