Farmersville and Pleasant Grove have seen a lot of each other over the last three seasons.
The Lady Farmers and Lady Hawks have played six times since 2023, including three playoff matches, with Farmersville winning in 2023 while Pleasant Grove won in 2024 and 2025.
The two teams renewed their rivalry Friday afternoon, and this match proved to be one of the longest.
Ultimately, it was Farmersville that persevered at the end, defeating Pleasant Grove in a five-set thriller by a 19-25, 25-17, 25-16, 23-25, 15-7 final at Pleasant Grove High School.
It was the third match this season for Farmersville that has required all five sets to be played. The Lady Farmers lost to Whitehouse on Aug. 25, but Farmersville (22-9) has won the last two matches that have gone the distance, including a 3-2 win over Leonard on Sept. 1 and last week’s victory over Pleasant Grove.
Earlier in the week, Farmersville faced less resistance in a 3-0 sweep of Mabank (25-14, 25-13, 25-17) at Farmersville Arena on Sept. 8.
