Farmersville City Council approved its fiscal year 2026-27 budget and several other items during a Sept. 8 special meeting.
Proceedings for the special session featured several public hearings, beginning with a proposed amendment to the city’s zoning ordinance regarding requirements for convenience stores with gas pumps. The ordinance would effectively shift gas pumps from a use allowed by right to one requiring a specific use permit. The council had previously tabled the item due to a lack of clarifying information.
Discussion centered on several unanswered questions from the council to the Planning and Zoning Commission, including the size of convenience stores affected by the ordinance, whether the requirements would apply to every street corner and other details.
