This morning, the city of Farmersville released the following update relative to its response to COVID-19:

“COVID-19 Response #4

As previously posted, we as a city haven’t moved toward closing and/or restricting inside dinning at our local restaurants and/or businesses that provide inside dinning at this time. Some cities that serve larger population centers and have greater numbers have moved toward limiting indoor patron’s to 50%, implementing social distancing, time restrictions, and/or closing businesses period to either a prescribed date or altogether.

We are certainly aware and clearly understand the impact to our local businesses and community, who both rely and depend on these services and patronage every day. So today I reached out to all of our local Farmersville restaurants/businesses to discuss future plans and processes if and when we need to implement more restrictive measures in the future.

I was encouraged that many of our businesses have already been planning and looking for ways to sustain their businesses in case they have to move to a delivery, take-out, and/or curbside practice. Additionally, I found that many of the businesses have already increased cleaning and decontamination protocols in the day-to-day operations.

I also reached out to Chamber of Commerce representatives to seek their advice and found them very supportive and understanding based on what we face as a local community and nation at this time. The Chamber was also reaching out to their members and having similar discussions.
The Main Street organization via Dana Mingo has also started support operations and will be visiting the Main Street businesses to find way to help.

We will continue to monitor daily, the progression and infection rate of COVID-19 in Collin County as we expect for it to rise. We will encourage all businesses in the city to monitor and manage their businesses in regards to numbers served and take the required precautions as previously discussed in order to have some semblance of a measured reaction as well as, time to adjust and implement new practices to sustain their business during this difficult time. In response, some of the local businesses have already advertised take-out, curb-side service, to delivery options on social media in preparation for this unfortunate time in our lives.

The City of Farmersville is fully involved and working with local and state authorities to guide its operations and response to the recent spread of COVID-19. The city’s goal is to minimize any disruption to its citizens while also ensuring the health and safety of the community.
