Greetings to all our readers,
Do you walk into a room and forget what you came into the room for? Do you misplace your purse, keys, glasses and other objects you use daily? Do you forget what day of the week it is and what the date is? Do you forget to pick up your medication or not get everything you meant to at the grocery store? Do you forget appointments, parties, or activities you needed to attend? The list goes on and on.
What I’m really asking, is are you have problems with your memory. If you do you are not alone. Millions of people have problems remembering things. Memory loss affects both the young and old. Many tend to think its only senior citizens who have memory problems. This is simply not true.
What causes us to have memory problems? Old age, medications we take, too many things on our mind, illnesses and stress. Doctors have been saying for years stress has a lot of to do with memory loss. Some days we are under so much stress we don’t even realize it. We live in a busy world. The computer world we live in stresses me out daily as I’m sure it does some of you.
Memory loss can run in the family, you’ve probably heard your mother say, “My grandmother or my dad had a terrible memory,” and this trait can be passed down through the family.
We’re going to have a program on memory loss at the Senior Citizen Center at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18. This program will last about 30 minutes and is free to anyone who wants to attend. We had a very informational program on Medicare Fraud in July. The lady that spoke to us gave us a lot of tips on how to protect ourselves from others getting any information that they don’t need.
Stay out of the heat, drink plenty of fluids and be aware of what’s going on around you. Beware of strangers. As always, keep a close watch on your neighbors.
