Farmers, Lady Farmers lose to Melissa

by | Feb 25, 2021 | Sports

After a long delay, the Farmersville soccer teams had their first game in two weeks Monday, Feb. 22, traveling to Melissa to face two competitive Cardinals teams.

Farmersville soccer coach Chris Chase said he was happy to see the team be able to hit the field again, despite how the condensed schedule gives the team very little room to breathe.

‘It was nice to be out there again,” Chase said. “Obviously there will be no routine pretty much for the rest of the season with all the makeup dates, so it’s just a matter of whether it gets back to any kind of normalcy. Trying to change our game plan is pretty much out the window because you don’t have the practice time, so heading into each game will be somewhat of a difficulty.”

The Lady Farmers were the first team to hit the field in Melissa, facing a strong Lady Cardinals team that entered the game undefeated in district competition. Similar to the Celina matchup in which Farmersville lost by double-digits, the Lady Cardinals were able to overwhelm Farmersville, winning 11-0.
