Farmersville ISD police chief resigns

by | Jun 3, 2021 | Latest

Farmersville ISD Police Chief Brian Alford resigned last week after serving as head of the department since May 2018.

The school district’s director of communications, Corey Krick, released a statement last week. It read, “On Wednesday, May 26 the district became aware of a video that allegedly depicts the district’s chief of police at a party where underage students were present and consuming alcohol. On Thursday, May 27, the chief of police voluntarily submitted his resignation letter and the district has accepted it.”

Alford indicated via text to The Farmersville Times that he had no further comment about his resignation.

The video Krick referred to is reported to have begun circulating on social media recently.

A 24-second video was also posted by an East Texas online news site with copy that alleged an off-duty police officer was at a party where intoxicated minors were present.

Krick said the district will begin the search for Alford’s replacement immediately.

“We will handle it like any other FISD job vacancy in that we will post the position and begin interviews,” she said. “We do not have a set timeline for this process as we intend to find the best candidate.”

According to the district website, “the responsibility for the overall direction and focus of law enforcement and crime prevention rests with the office of the chief of police.”

Prior to accepting the position as the FISD chief, Alford was a lieutenant with the city of Farmersville Police Department. He had also been employed with Hunt County Department of Homeland Security and with the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office where he worked as a patrol lieutenant, narcotics lieutenant and jail administrator.

Alford also served as military police conducting traffic accident investigation, serving as a protective service officer and as a patrol officer with the U.S. Army.

No additional information has been released by Farmersville ISD.
