Farmersville football hadn’t won a district contest, since 2014, coming into the 7-3A Div. I opener.
The Farmers (5-0, 1-0) snapped that streak last Friday with a 31-21 victory over Commerce (1-4, 0-1).
“I really feel that was the biggest win that we’ve had yet this season,” head coach Sammy Burnett said. “Last year we were 4-1 and once district started all the injuries came about. We had kids step up and to get that first (district) win was huge.”
The Tigers looked to score first near the end of the first quarter, but gave the ball away on a fumble facing fourth-and-one.
