Treighson Crews wraps up Mt. Vernon’s Taylor Ibarra on a fourth down stop in the third quarter last Friday during district competition.

Defense made all the difference last Friday in a playoff-clinching win against Mt. Vernon.

Farmersville (8-1 overall, 4-1 in district) overcame a halftime deficit in a 21-12 victory and in the process wrapped up second place in District 7-3A Div. I.

On Senior Night the Farmers 11-man unit gave up just 89 yards in the last two quarters, after surrendering 121 in the first half.

“The reason we won the game was because of the play of the defense,” head coach Sammy Burnett said. “We had a good game plan going in and they made the stops when needed.”
