Council talks ADA upgrades

Farmersville is taking steps to bring the city and downtown area into compliance with the American Disability Act.

Recently, a $325,000 Texas Capital Fund Main Street Grant was accepted by the Farmersville City Council.

The grant is comprised of the city paying $45,000 and donating $30,000 in-kind services and receiving $250,000.

Within the grant, the city will be working on improving and installing handicapped parking spots, improving downtown sidewalks and improving and installing handicapped ADA access ramps.

ADA parking spot improvements will include: repainting the spot in front of the post office, in front of Dyer Drug Store, on the south side of the square, in front of Carrie’s Floral, in front of Red Door Antiques, in the south city parking lot in front of First Baptist Church, along Farmersville Parkway, at Farmersville City Hall, in the north city parking lot and at the Chaparral Trail parking lot.
