Filing has closed for Farmersville city council with the mayoral seat and two council seats contested.

For Place 2, there are three individuals who have filed: incumbent city councilmember Donny Mason, Angie Rios and John Garcia.

Rios, who is an account manager at a mortgage law firm, is well known within first responder circles for her commitment as a firefighter on Farmersville Fire Department. She is also an officer for the fire department and recently started steps to change her career to become a paramedic.

“Farmersville is my home. I love it, and the people, more than anywhere I have ever lived. You always give to those you love, and I can give back by serving,” she said. “Currently I serve on the Volunteer Fire Department but I want to do more and I think this is the best way I can do more.”
