City officials are on a hunt: to find out why sales tax dollars continue to dip this year.
So far this year, Farmersville sales tax revenue has decreased 23.45 percent, receiving $287,277 versus $375,287 received for the same period of time in 2017.
The most recent monthly payment received was $62,225 for sales made in February 2018. This was a 40 percent decrease from February 2017, according to information released by the Texas State Comptroller’s office.
City Manager Ben White stated that sales tax is a hard thing to measure and figure out why it has dropped.
