Getting it done: Gerner captures bronze in high jump at Austin

AUSTIN – It was the perfect end to the 2018 track and field season for Blue Ridge’s Skylar Gerner.

The sophomore brought home the bronze medal, third place, in the Class 2A high jump with a height of 5-04 at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

Lufkin Pineywood’s Tina Douglas jumped 5-08 for gold and Zoe Spinn earned silver at 5-08.

Also earning points, top six, were Hico’s Sydney Polk in fourth at 5-02, Refugio’s Jai’lin King in fifth at 5-02, and Albany’s Alli Hall and Farwell’s Alli Hill tied for sixth at 5-00.

Neches’ Kacie Kimbrough claimed eighth at 5-00 and Alexius McAdams of Kerens didn’t record a height.
