The city of Farmersville has been hit with a ransom-ware virus, which has drastically altered their ability to take payments and send out utility bills.
According to City Manager Ben White, the city’s computer systems have been effected which does not allow them to process payments and such. Bills for utilities will be send out late.
The deadline will be adjusted accordingly.
Cash and check payments can be accepted at the front desk and will be backlogged into the system when it is back up.
Collin County, Anna and Sachse have also been hit by the same virus.
City emails are also not operational.
The system went down Sunday, May 20 and has remained down since then. It is gradually being brought back online.
It is unknown when the system will be fully restored.
