City to start budget work

The city of Farmersville has started budget work on its fiscal year 2018-19, and is working toward a balanced budget.

At the Tuesday, Aug. 28 city council meeting, a budget workshop was held. During the month of September, the city will have a council meeting each Tuesday night regarding the budget. The first public hearing regarding the tax rate and budget will be held Sept. 4, the second public hearing will be held Sept. 11 and adopting the budget and tax rate will be held Sept. 18.

City council members heard about a deficit in the 2017-18 revised budget, due to a number of factors.
