MT. VERNON – Mother Nature had other plans last Friday for the Farmers (0-1) non-district football game at Don Meredith Stadium.

Mt. Vernon (1-0) was leading 5-0 near the middle of the second quarter when the game was called.

“We were playing real well defensively against a very physical team,” FHS head coach Brandon Hankins said.

He added about the Farmer offense, “The had a hard time moving the ball, but the muddy conditions had something to do with that. We also had some chances to score, but couldn’t convert.

The non-district contest would go down as cancellation and didn’t affect either team’s record.
