The quilts start out as pieces of fabric, sewn stitch by stitch by quilters who ultimately do not know where the finished product will go. Upon completion, the true purpose is revealed: they will provide comfort to veterans affected by war.

Recently, veterans throughout the area received Quilts of Valor from the Farmersville Quilt Guild.

The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing quilts.

The most recent batch of quilts were awarded to area veterans and filled with hard work, love and honor in a presentation at the Faith Family Church in Nevada Tuesday, Nov. 13.
