Fostering family: Becoming foster parents helps with great need

by | Dec 6, 2018 | Life & Style

Editor’s note: this is the last story in a three part series.

With over 400,000 kids being in foster care throughout the United States, becoming a foster parent – and a good foster parent at that – is needed both in the state and in Collin County.

For Farmersville residents John and Tiffany Cassidy the decision to become foster parents wasn’t one they came upon lightly.

The couple’s journey started when John heard a talk show on the radio about foster care after the couple got married in 2008. The husband told his wife that they should do that some day, but being newlyweds they decided to wait.

“A few years later, some friends of ours adopted two kids out of foster care and encouraged us to pray about getting involved. We learned about the extreme need for good foster homes in Texas, so we decided to find an agency and get licensed,” Tiffany said.
