Farmers baseball enjoyed success in the 2019 season.

They finished with double digit wins and made it to the Class 4A Region II playoffs.

Farmersville finished 14-16 overall and were third in District 13-4A at 4-5.

“We would have liked to have won a few more games, and our guys really wanted to advance in the playoffs. But we played a good schedule, and played our best baseball when it mattered most at the end,” FHS head coach Jon Nordin said. “It was a fun group to be around everyday, and I’m proud I had the chance to coach them.”

Community went 9-0, Caddo Mills was 5-4 and Ford took fourth at 0-9.

Their season ended in the first round, bi-district, of the playoffs with a 2-1 best-of-three series loss against Brownsboro at Sunnyvale High School.

Brownsboro used a seventh inning walk off to take the opener 2-1.

Farmersville bounced back in the second game for the 3-2 victory and evened the series at 1-1. Brownsboro platted one run in the third and fourth inning.

The Farmers responded in grand fashion with a three-run homer from Hacker in the bottom of the fifth.

Brownsboro won the series-decider 10-0 in six innings.

Farmersville lost Christian Chambers, Braxton Hacker, Michael Bagwill, Bailey Abbott, Clay Hibbitts, Levi Dale, Micah Meeks, Leroy Bolden, Zander Jones Kagen Self and Logan Blackburn to graduation.

“All senior classes are special, but this one seems even more so. I’ve been fortunate enough to be here since these guys were in the sixth grade. I’ve seen them grow up, and we’ve been many miles together,” Nordin said. “Six of them have been traveling with us since they were freshmen, and Levi and Braxton have probably played as many games here as anybody ever. They all had great attitudes throughout and they’ll all be missed.”
