11-run seventh leads Lady Farmers in game one

by | May 5, 2023 | Sports

Leading 5-2 heading into the seventh inning, the Lady Farmers needed some insurance run.

They got that in bulk, scoring 11 in the top of the seventh to win game one over North Lamar in the area championship 16-2. Starting the inning off at the top of the order, with Carleigh Deeds driving in Emaleigh Sweeden for the first run of the inning. The first nine Lady Farmers of the inning reached base, with Baylee Valliant’s two-run double making it 12-2.

Around the order for a second time, back-to-back doubles from Bella Holland and Cecily Sandoval drove in runs, making it 16 runs and finishing off the inning. Kaylie Casados came in to close out the game in the seventh inning on the rubber, allowing just one run over four innings. Jamie Varga also struck out six batters and allowed one run over three innings of work.

Game two for the Lady Farmers is at Bonham High School Saturday at 1 p.m. With a win, Farmersville will advance to the area round. If North Lamar wins, game three will be shortly after game two.
