In a one-game playoff, Farmersville put the ball in the hands of its senior Cooper Strawn.
He delivered, pitching a no-hitter in Farmersville’s 4-0 bi-district playoff win over Mabank Friday night in Royse City. 15 of the 21 outs were strikeouts, as Strawn walked just four runners all game and was able to get two double plays from his infield on defense.
Kaden Johnson opened the scoring in the bottom of the second, driving in Brayden Malone as part of four straight singles for the Farmers’ offense to start the inning. They couldn’t capitalize further, however, with three straight outs with the bases loaded after to end the innings.
Johnson doubled his RBI tally in the fourth, with a double to score Paxon Graves. Landon Dunham made it 3-0 in the next at-bat, driving in Caden Norman with a single. Norman scored his second run later in the game on a wild pitch.
Farmersville advances to the area round, where they’ll play the winner of Brownsboro and North Lamar next.
