Council hears legislative update, potential impact from city attorney

The Texas Legislature, which has been fighting the federal government over issues involving local government control, has taken a “peculiar” position on whether it should keep more power from cities’ hands, Farmersville City Attorney Alan Lathrom told the City Council on Tuesday night.

HB 2127, Lathrom said, “pre-empts a home-rule city from adopting five types of regulations.”
