Audie Murphy events begin

There’s a full slate of events on tap for the 25th annual Audie Murphy Day celebration, an event that honors area veterans and the city’s favorite — and most decorated — U. S. soldier of World War II.

Here is the schedule of events according to the Audie Murphy Day committee:

Friday, June 14:

  • Audie Murphy Exhibit (Farmersville Heritage Museum-107 Farmersville Parkway) 5 p.m.- 7 p.m.
  • Duffy Hudson’s One Man Show, Portrayal of Audie Murphy- 807 N. Main Street, 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Saturday, June 15:

Veterans Registration and Breakfast: First Baptist Church- 124 S. Washington Street 7:30 a.m. – 9 a.m.

Patriotic Parade: Show your American pride and line the streets for a vibrant parade.- Downtown McKinney Street 10 a.m.

Audie Murphy Day Ceremony: Historic Onion Shed-154 S. Main Street 10:45 a.m.

Veteran Luncheon: First Baptist Church-124 S. Washington Street Noon

Audie Murphy Exhibition and Sister City Exhibition: Farmersville Heritage Museum- 107 Farmersville Parkway Noon- 3 p.m.

Valiant Farmersville Area Veterans of WWII and WWII Exhibit: Farmersville Historic Society- Bain Honaker House/108 College Street  11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Audie Murphy Special Artifacts: Charles Rike Memorial Library- 203 Orange Street, 

9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Wreaths Across America Mobile Education Exhibit

It is free and open to the public from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday outside the Farmersville Heritage Museum at 107 Farmersville Parkway
