Nothing captures the spirit of the holidays quite like handmade decorations — especially when they’re created by the smallest members of the family. Getting kids involved in decorating not only makes your home feel more festive but also gives them a sense of pride and ownership. From sparkling snow globes to life-sized gingerbread people, these kid-friendly projects turn ordinary afternoons into creative holiday memories.
Easy Snow Globes
Few crafts say “winter magic” like a shimmering snow globe. Luckily, they’re simple to make and endlessly customizable. Pick up clear plastic jars with tight-fitting lids — or use classic glass mason jars — along with a little glitter, glycerin, and a few mini figurines.
In a small bowl, combine one cup of water, three teaspoons of glycerin or baby oil, and a few teaspoons of glitter. Using a waterproof adhesive, glue a small Christmas tree, snowman, or reindeer to the underside of the jar lid. Once it’s dry, fill the jar with your mixture, screw on the lid, flip it over, and watch the “snow” swirl and sparkle. Kids love experimenting with colors and glitter shapes — and parents love how magical they look on a mantel or windowsill.
