The holidays are far from ho hum in Farmersville as the city, local businesses and volunteers plan for — and work hard — to create a festive atmosphere with lights, entertainment and much more.
The 2022 debut of Farmersville Lights happens Thursday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. at Commercial Bank of Texas located at 201 S. Hwy. 78, followed by the tree lighting on the square at 7 p.m. carriage rides and caroling. Carriage rides are available by advance reservation only and many of the time slots for Thursday are already filled.
At 8 p.m., Fine Arts on Main’s production of “A Christmas Carol,” the traditional story with modern music produced by Fine Arts on Main kicks off it’s first performance. Buy tickets now at fineartsmain.com.
Shoppers looking for great gifts from local businesses can start by attending Cocktails and Candy Canes, a special event, Friday, Dec. 2 on the square from 5-8 p.m.
On Saturday, Dec. 3, the chamber of commerce will host its holiday Farmersville Market at the Onion Shed starting at 9 a.m. There will be a special guest in a red suit who will be hanging out from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. for photo opportunities.
The window is closing for individuals or groups interested in registering to be in the Saturday, Dec. 10, Wild West Christmas parade hosted by the Farmersville Chamber of Commerce. Parade participants must register by Sunday, Dec. 4, and submit an entry fee of $5. After Dec. 4, late entries will pay a $10 fee to register. According to organizers, the money collected will be split “between a couple of organizations” in Farmersville.
There will be no fee applicable for local nonprofits and first responders.

If a live Christmas tree is on the list, visit the lot near the Onion Shed now through Dec. 16. Proceeds benefit the Farmersville Volunteer Fire Department. Hours are Mondays – Fridays from 5-8 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 8 p.m.
