Innovative is not a term commonly used to describe a school year, but one mentioned by several FISD stakeholders when asked to reflect on the year 2022.
According to Superintendent Micheal French, “We’re not afraid of innovation here.”
That statement holds true as new initiatives and facilities were introduced during the 2022 calendar year.
Growing in student population at a rate of 6% increase, administrators understand the need to be proactive and meet the everchanging needs of students, especially still rebounding from the COVID year.
“One of the greatest challenges facing the district now and in the future is managing student growth and providing the needed resources for students and teachers while being fiscally responsible. Student growth creates the need for more classrooms, more teachers, more auxiliary staff, more buses, more operational items, etc.,” said French.
While meeting the needs of the basic instructional program, FISD has taken a different approach of going above and beyond by offering innovational programs to prepare students for the real world.
