Downtown tune times adjusted by city council

by | Mar 7, 2019 | Latest

Downtown music hit some sour notes after conversation by Farmersville city council when a resident voiced opposition.

As a joint project between the Farmersville Community Development Corporation (4B) and the Audie Murphy Day Committee, a new sound system was purchased for the downtown area last year. 4B donated $14,861.47 while the Audie Murphy Day Committee donated $7,425 for a total of $22,286.47.

Over the past few months, the city has been working on some glitches with the system, attempting to get them ironed out so a variety of music could be played.

Downtown resident Diane Piwko, who lives with her husband above the Fiber Circle store, expressed complaints about the music during the public comment portion of the city council meeting Tuesday, Feb. 26.
