Library appreciation month may have been in April, bibliophiles throughout the Farmersville community show love for its local library every day of the week.
Rike Public Library, located at 203 Orange Avenue, has changed in myriad ways over the years. In 2012, the facility underwent a large transformation courtesy of a Tocker grant, which was used to purchase new furniture, shelving and to update the interior and layout of the library. Last year, the library has extensive work done on its foundation and floor courtesy of funds provided by the Centennial Committee.
“There is also the multitude of volunteers who have helped us when we had our renovations; they helped us accomplish so much. We are so lucky and blessed to have such a great community,” Dowell said.
Currently, the library boasts eight public access computers with internet and printer access and one children’s computer. The library offers open Wi-Fi, books, videos and audio books.
