The most recent legislative session has impacted the city of Farmersville in myriad ways including bills that have city administrators, councilmembers and even legal council scratching their heads.

At the Tuesday, July 23 regularly scheduled city council meeting, City Attorney Alan Lathrom briefed council on changes set forth by the Texas Legislation.

Changes included House Bill 3314 regarding public notices for replats, House Bill 2439 regarding the regulation of building materials and House Bill 3167 regarding a plan review ‘shot clock’.

Currently, where replats are concerned a public notice in the official newspaper of record is required 15 days before the scheduled public hearing. Also, a written notice must be sent to the owners of lots that are in 200 feet of the property that will be replatted.
