FFA students compete in county show

Livestock exhibitors from Farmersville ISD started the year strong last week by pick­ing up several top awards at the Collin County Junior Livestock Show.

The event was held Jan. 2-9 at Myers Park in McKinney and drew FFA and 4-H members from throughout the county.

The Collin County show serves as a tune-up for bigger shows throughout the state, in­cluding Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio.

 Top winners in the Market Swine division include; Grand Champion (Champion Cross) – Klayden Powell; Isabella Lo­pez – Reserve Champion White OPB; Addison Horton – Re­serve Champion Hamp; Dos­son Chumbley- Champion Jr. Showmanship; Klayden Powell – Reserve Champion Jr. Show­manship.

In Sheep, top winners in­clude: Reserve Grand Champi­on (Reserve Champion Medium Wool) and Champion Jr. Show­manship – Addison Horton; Reserve Champion Southdown and Reserve Champion Junior Showmanship – Carson Dillard.

Cattle top honors went to Tye Thompson for Champion Senior Showmanship; McKenna Rice – Chianna Reserve Champion, Simmental Reserve Champion and ORB; Kolten Peel – Red Angus Champion and Red An­gus Reserve Champion.

1st place Black OPB – Ad­dison Horton, Chloe Lopez, Alison Dillard; 1st Duroc – Tye Thompson; 1st Cross – Zane Thompson, Klayden Powell, Dosson Chumbley.

2nd White OPB – Paxstyn Adams; 2nd Black OPB – Car­son Dillard; 2nd Duroc – Hud­son Gray, Isabella Lopez; 2nd Hamp – Hudson Gray; 2nd place Cross – Dosson Chumbley.

3rd White OPB – Chloe Lo­pez, Black OPB – McKinzie Riley; Duroc – Avery Simpson; Joel Lopez; Hamp – Mackey Cox; Cross – Addison Adams. 4th Hamp – Blake Berumen, Cross – Erin Blackburn, Zane Thompson.

5th WOPB – Addison Adams; BOPB – Madison Baker; Duroc – Joel Lopez; Hamp – Alison Dil­lard.

6th BOPB – Brooklyn Ner­wich; Hamp – Madison Baker.
