New mayor, councilmembers take oaths

by | May 21, 2020 | Latest

Farmersville’s City Council welcomed three new members – Mayor Bryon Wiebold, Place 2 Councilman Terry Williams and Place 4 Councilman Mike Henry – and immediately got down to the business of extending the Mayor’s Disaster Order to combat the effects of the worldwide coronavirus pandemic.

The council voted unanimously May 12 to extend the disaster order until June 12. Accordingly, the council also approved an amendment to the ordinance to continue hazardous duty pay allotments to the police and fire departments. Police Chief Mike Sullivan and the city’s police officers will receive a boost in their pay in connection with dealing with potential exposure to COVID-19 infections among residents. In addition, Fire Chief Kim Morris and Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Lisman will receive a boost in pay.
