by | Apr 27, 2022 | Area news, Latest

Early voting kicked off this week and Farmersville voters will decide not only on the mayoral election, reelecting Mayor Bryon Wiebold, or newcomer Denise Kelly, but how the city will be governed in the future.

On the city election ballot is a proposed home rule charter that Farmersville’s residents will be asked to approve, along with the mayor, and a Constitutional Amendment election for two propositions to the state constitution.

This is Farmersville’s first attempt at approving a home rule charter.

The Farmersville Forward PAC has signs for those in support of the proposed Home Rule Charter. Early voting in now underway at the Collin College Farmersville Campus.

The city has been governed as a general law community, meaning that it must comply with laws approved by the Texas Legislature and signed by the governor.
