Pleasant Grove had been a thorn in the side of the Farmersville volleyball team.
The two schools have met seven times over the last three years, but Pleasant Grove had gotten the better of Farmersville in the playoffs, including a pair of first-round wins in 2024 and 2025.
Farmersville didn’t allow Pleasant Grove to end its season in the first round for the third year in a row. The Lady Farmers started fast and went on to earn a 25-16, 21-25, 25-18, 25-21 victory over the Lady Hawks in a Class 4A Division II bi-district match play at Prairiland High School on Thursday.
It was the ninth straight victory for Farmersville.
Farmersville (33-11) draws Spring Hill (26-17) in the area round, set for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Grand Saline High School. Spring Hill dispatched Canton in four sets on Thursday.
Tuesday’s match will mark the second time this season that Farmersville and Spring Hill will have played each other. The Lady Farmers posted a 2-0 sweep of the Lady Panthers on Aug. 21.
