Islamic Association, council plan meeting

by | Aug 3, 2017 | Latest

The Islamic Association of Collin County will be sitting down with city officials to discuss the preliminary plat of the proposed cemetery.

The Islamic Association of Collin County cemetery project once again found itself the topic of discussion with city council, this time at the request of the IACC.

At the Tuesday, July 25 city council meeting, IACC requested that the cemetery project be placed back on the agenda.

After denial of the preliminary plat for the cemetery at the July 11 meeting due to drainage concerns, IACC asked council to agree to a sit down meeting with them to work together to resolve issues associated with the plat.

Mohammed Qasim shared information with the council and pleaded with them to allow the cemetery so his two-year-old daughter would one day have a place to bury him when he dies.

“There are thousands of people in Collin County that would benefit from this cemetery,” he said. “There are ways we can work together to fix the issues.”
