This Saturday downtown Farmersville will be full of all kinds of Cinco De Mayo fun as myriad activities take place.

“I’m looking forward to a busy day in downtown Farmersville. The weather is going to be great, so make sure to spend some of your Saturday enjoying the events and shopping in downtown,” Main Street Manager Reagan Rothenberger said.

One activity that will be occurring is National Trail Day, where trail enthusiasts are invited out to enjoy the Chaparral Trail. Trail mix will be passed out to those visiting the trail.

Farmers and Fleas will be taking place on the Onion Shed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a ‘Chalk the Walk’ event taking place for kids and adults to draw on sidewalks surrounding the shed. There is no charge for the event, organizers said.

The MI (Member Initiated) Event committee, which is a subcommittee of the Farmersville Chamber of Commerce, will also be hosting a Cinco De Mayo Celebration including a salsa tasting competition in downtown Farmersville.

Citizens are invited to stop by any downtown business with a red flag by their door to taste salsa and judge entries from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Those tasting salsa are also invited to enter to win a Cinco De Mayo gift basket and there will be t-shirts for sale.
